Shar- Sorry to hear about your relapse. But there is a reason for the return of the pain and fatigue- the PMR. That's how it acts. It sounds like you need more prednisone. Your doctor took an interesting approach with combining Vioxx and prednisone. He probably does not want to give you a higher dose of prednisone. My rheumatologist did not give a reason for the reduction to 5mg in spite of symptoms. I think it was because of the normal ESRs and that he too, did not want to increase the dosage. (He had increased the dose slightly twice in the year-and-a-half that I have seen him because of symptoms). I see him in Nov., so we'll see. I am really interested in what your doctor will prescribe.
