My mother was diagnosed at 73yrs of age, with the disease. Later she was also diagnosed with osteoporosis. She has taken predinose at varying doses all of this time. The pain, more oft than not, is unbearable. What is the SED rate? That never has been discussed. What is a "rheumy"? Are you seeing rheumatoid arthritist' specialists? She is seeing a family practice physician. She had to take cortisone for many, many years (45 years of age - 60)to control itching and skin allergies. We thought that led to the the poly and the osteo. What is the cure? Can you die from this disease (polymyalgia?) She was recently diagnosed with cataracts...which could come from old age or the poly. (She is 79 years old.) Please respond. Thank you.
