Polymyalgia and Prednisone

Hi Shar- Glad to hear that your pain from the bursitis is better. It is a good omen that you are beginning to take a lower dose of prednisone. Hope the dose keeps going down. And the good bone scan is great, especially after all this time on prednisone. How much calcium do you take? I take 800-1200mg a day, plus I do drink milk and also use orange juice (and anything else) that has calcium added. Also take Vitamin D once a week. Hope your blood pressure thing is temporary. As for my two doctor visits- I feel I am going two steps forward and one back. My internist wants me to stay on the 9/8mg taper for at least another six weeks. He also wants to continue the mega doses of antibiotics. I do feel somewhat better after starting the second antibiotic. But not totally out of aches and pains, just a little less fatigue. My rheumatologist wants me to begin another taper, but very slow. They both ordered comprehensive blood tests, but I guess they didn't find what they each may have been looking for. I feel very discouraged that this has gone on so long- although I realize it could be worse. And I did have one really good day last week and did so much that I was tired the next day. So maybe something is happening, although slow. Hope you are feeling better and continue to improve. Let me know how you are doing. Be Well, Ida
