Polymyalgia and Prednisone

Hi Shar- Sorry to hear about your relapse. But it does happen, over and over. In my experience, there have been times of fatigue and pain. Then a spell of less pain and less fatigue. I think PMR keeps yo-yo-ing for several years, before it settles down. (To what, I have yet to find out). My rheumatologist was firm in wanting me to taper to 5 mg. (beginning Sept. 12) I am on alternate 6mg/5mg right now. The pain is worse, but the terrible fatigue hasn't set in. I can e-mail him between appointments to get ESR results and updates on medication. However, he phoned me about the taper to 5mg., saying he wanted it in spite of my having pain. My ESR for the past two months has been normal- 18 and 19. So I guess that is what he was looking at. What else do you take besides Prednisone? Did your doctor prescribe anything for pain? Once in a while I take a Tylenol PM at bedtime, since I am awakened by pain during the night. Try to keep your spirits up. Good days do happen. Let me know how you are doing. Ida
