Polymyalgia and Prednisone

Hi Ida, I'm glad to hear from you, and that your taper is going along well. It is quite a challenge to taper the Prednisone, and it has been an ongoing battle for both of us. I am down to 13mg as of the last 4 days, and my biggest problem is fatigue. It will pass, I hope. I'm on 15mg of Mobic a day, to help with the taper, and it is working, but it does give me a little dizziness when I get up in the morning. That is not a serious side effect, supposedly. My echocardiogram and x-rays came out fine. Thank goodness! My breathing difficulty seems to stem from all the weight in my middle, from being on Prednisone at medium to high doses for the last 4 years. My rheumatologist said so, anyway. He said it is not my fault, and he really feels bad about it. I certainly haven't been eating a lot. In fact, I am eating only 2 meals a day, with skipping lunch, and these are not huge meals! It is frustrating to have all of this weight to deal with, and to feel so uncomfortable because of it pushing on my diaphragm. I am eager to get the Prednisone down, and hoping it will help me shed some pounds. I am no longer getting notified when a reply is made to my posts. I don't know why. Are you having problems with that too? I am making a point of checking up on this message board every few days, so that I don't miss your post. I look forward to hearing from you, Ida. Be well. Shar
