Polymyalgia and Prednisone

Hi Nancy, An above normal sed rate and CRP are the two blood test results that matter in PMR. Maybe you should ask your doctor about it. A sudden onset of symptoms is a good indicator of PMR, along with positive results in these two blood tests. The pain should be accompanied by a good deal of stiffness, and it is worse in the mornings and evenings, and it takes place in the neck, shoulders, and hips, for the most part. Fibromyalgia does not raise the sed rate, and the pain can be anywhere in the body, and not accompanied by stiffness. Stiffness is an important factor in PMR. Also, fatigue and depression are symptoms of Polymyagia. Do you have stiffness, Nancy? When you were first treated with Prednisone, did your symptoms improve dramatically within a couple days? Mine did, and that is an expected response in PMR. Let me know how you are doing, Nancy. I hope you feel better soon. Shar
