In addition to the "arachnoiditis" (tethering of the spinal cord), I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few years before the spinal cord problem. No medicine was given. However, I am now being given Vicodin 7.5 Mg, Oxycontin 40 Mg (4 times a day) and wear patches of Fentynal (a 100 and a 75 mcg) for three days at a time. None of these medications take the pain away. I am very careful with the pain meds and keep them in containers that show me whether or not I've taken the right number for the day. But, instead of taking me off a pain medication when it doesn't work, the doctors simply add to it so I've taking more and more.
