I had the same leg/hip pain you are describing. It got so bad my right leg started to go numb starting with the toes and eventually I couldn't walk at all because of the pain. Turned out I had severly ruptured discs, the material pressing on the sciatic nerve which runs down the legs in exactly the pattern you describe. Have you had a myleogram or CT scan? This type of damage does NOT show up on an ordinary x-ray. Find a Board Certified orthopoedist. A GP simply isn't trained to deal with this problem. A fusion solved my problem but if there are no broken vertebrae, frequently a simply laminectomy cures the pain.My hospital roommate came in in a wheelchair and walked out 24 hours later pain free with a butterfly bandaid over the incision!!! Get second opinions and a very good doctor. A back is nothing to mess with except by a specialist. Good luck.
