Genital warts and scared

Carrie

Message 2 of 23 Previous Next

QS, I was diagnosed w/ warts @ age 13. I was scared to tell my mom about these growths and let them get so bad, I was unable to walk. It took a year of treatments to clear them up. I have learned a lot about, condyloma (may have spelled wrong) it is the fastest growing VD around. Most people never even know they have it, they are carriers. And, like me, the ones who do know, don't tell. This VD can cause dysphlasia (spelling again) which can lead to Cervical cancer. You will always have this virus but you may not have any outbreaks (I haven't had any for about 3 years. Please make sure that you have annual exams, for prevention and early detection of any precancerous cell. I have had several procedures due to an abnormal pap. By the grace of God, the bx revealed no cancer. My sister also has this. Along w/ a lot of my girlfriends. Practice safe sex. There are people out there who know what they have, like me, and are scared (like me) of being rejected for the rest of my life, and there are infected people who just don't care. This doesn't change who you are, and I know, by experience, the man who really loves you for you will understand and not turn away. (Mine asked me to marry him!!!!) Take care of yourself and remember you can't tell by looking at someone (or asking) that they have some VD.
