Plantar Fasciitis

I found walking, not sitting helped. If the muscles in the legs are not stretched every day, then they get tight. Every morning before getting out of bed I grab my knee and bring it to my chest as I raise my head to my knees and tuck my chin to my chest, and hold this position for the count of 30. Do this on each leg. Also do it before sleeping. By raising up on ones toes while standing at a sink or table and holding this position for the count of 30, it will help stretch the muscles also. A physio therapist should be able to tell you other stretches to do also. If you are low in calcium and magnesium, could also lead to muscle cramping. Heart attack victims have been found with low magnesium counts. Eat your dark green and leafy vegetables, or drink milk, and eat an age relevent multi vitamin and mineral tablet every day will help. Drinking milk, or eating yogurt will help. I eat yogurt on my cereal every day about 1/2 cup worth. I made a night brace to hold my foot upright in bed, using a pair of men's sandels and velcro straps wrapped around my calf, which kept the leg muscles stretched. I also made a slant board with a piece of plywood with a piece of rubber matting on the top, raised at the toe, on a piece of 1" X 1" piece of wood, which kept the muscles stretched. I walked with crutches first. I went to a chiropothist who made a cast of my foot and made orthotics for me. Eventually, the plantar Fasciitis lessened and went away. I keep up the exercises and stretches and walking, which keeps the fasciitis away. If you are a snorer, perhaps you have obstructive sleep apnea. This leads to lack of oxygen, lack of sleep, lack of relaxed muscles, tenseness in all muscles and more pain and maybe fibro myalgia. If your mate or child tells you you snoring, or kicking in your sleep, or snorting away, then get to a physician, get tested at a sleep lab in a hospital. If you have sleep apnea, then another night in the sleep lab, with a controlled air pressure mask, will ensure that your tongue does not block your throat and hence your airway. You will sleep more soundly, feel more rested, lessen the chance of a stroke or heart attack and perhaps cure the muscle problems. Good Luck. It has all helped me.
