chronic or persistant pericarditis without effusion

Hi I have had this problem for just over a year now. It started with an acute attack that seemed like a heart attack but proved to be "just pericarditis". The doctors told me it was a painful condition but not life threatening and sent me home with instructions to take aspirin every four hours. This of course began to cause stomach problems so now I take one Celebrex a day - and panadol if the pain gets bad. I tried to reduce the Celebrex by taking one every second day a few weeks ago and pretty soon was almost right back where I started. If I keep taking the Celebrex I can do most things but I do have trouble maintaining my fitness. Celebrex is meant to help arthritis so maybe I will just keep taking it for the rest of my life and maybe I won't get arthritis! I am 62 and otherwise perfectly healthy.
