I too had a carpet tunnel operation ten years ago that was a success. I did not have an orthopaedic surgeon do it as I had heard of too many failures. I had a neurosurgeon do the operation and it was a success. You can try acupuncture but yes I have known people to need a second surgery to fix the first one. Make sure you see a neurosurgeon for the second surgery. Good Luck. Bonnie
