I have had this procedure done in January. It did stop the food from coming up. I must also take a medicine called cissapride, which is off the market and very expensive to get, which propels the food through the esophagus, but I have problems with diarreah several days a week. They tell me since the food is not getting propelled through the system properly it deposits and causes bacteria buildup in the intestines. I had this procedure done at the University of Chicago, a well-known teaching hospital, and was confident of my doctor. There are some strange after effects, but nothing I could not handle. You do have to watch what you eat and how you chew, as the food has a smaller passage and no propellant (I had Easter dinner back up on me and was in such pain I checked into the emergency room), but you soon learn when to stop eating before discomfort. Good luck and write with questions or results.
