You could have fluid in your ear and there is a wall in your ear that sounds bounce off of so you can hear them. In most casses the wall is deformed and sound cannot bounce off of it because it is curved. To help this they will run a tube in your ear so the sounds can bounce off. This does not work all the time. In most casses you'll have to get a hearing aid.
