I don't know a lot about about sickle cell anemia, but I do know that most drug companies will give drugs to patients who really need them and can't afford them. Ask your dr. if he has the form you will need to fill out to apply.You must have income below a certain amount but if your girlfriend can't pay for desperately needed drugs because of low income, she should qualify. Some where on one of the health sites I saw something mentioned about that also. perhaps a search engine could turn up something but ask your Dr. first..most of them get the forms from the drug companies but you need to ask for them..hope this helps.
