Endometriosis?

Brenda Thornton

Message 27 of 32 Previous Next

I have endometriosis and am an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Recedntly, to my surprise, I discovered that several reputable studies have discovered that women with endometriosis apparently also are susceptible to or have an increased incidence of other cancers, inclduing endometriosis and breast cancer. I was on hormone replacement therapy as I am perimenopausal and neither my GYN nor Internist alerted me to this before placing me on hormones. I had to DC them because they were causing migraines and heavy menstrual bleeding but I was shocked because I have also had a melanoma. Now I have to balance the need to prevent heart disease and osteoporosis with hormone therapy with the possibility that I could increase my chances for breast cancer with hormones. An emdometrial ablation can help with excessive flow, but it usually will result in loss of the ability to carry a pregnancy. There are some hormones which can be tried, but it is just a nasty disease. Good luck
