Matt, I had the exact problem 5 years ago. The white balls that you are referring to were from my tonsils. It sounds gross, but in the morning I'd spit out a number of these foul smelling small round objects. I lived with it for years, then found a throat specialist who said my tonsils were causing the problem. It got so bad that I could sqeeze the tonsil and they would come out. Sounds and was very gross. I had my tonsils removed and never had the problem again. Check with a throat specialist, then make a decision. Hope you are not too old, tonsilectomy's are more risky when you are older. I was 38 when I had mine removed. Good luck.
