I do not have genital herpes, but I have had herpes simplex (cold sores,mouth ulcers) since I can remember. My mother got me to start taking L-Lysine, an amino acid, and as long as I don't forget to take the tablet every day, I do not have cold sores or mouth ulcers. If it works for herpes simplex, it might just work for genital herpes too. It would certainly be worth a try. I buy Puritan's Pride, 500mg tablets. Good Luck and God Bless
