Tonsilectomy

Message 5 of 8 Previous Next

I am 32 years old. I had constant strep throat, (about 8 times in a 6 month period), chronic low grade temp, and a lowsy attitude from being sick all the time. I had my tonsils removed January 5th of this year. The 2nd day post op pain and two weeks thereafter was horrendous. DO NOT skip a dose of your liquid codeine. You will need it! Set your alarm at night when it is time for another dose....if you don't, the pain will wake you up and it will be very hard to get the medicine swallowed. You'll then have to wait a good hour for the medicine to start working. Also, be prepared to have a constant fever. This can be subsisided with drinking lots of water....As hard as it will be to swallow, water is almost more important than food...so drink it! Besides all the fear and pain, I can honestly say it was absolutely worth it...I have not felt this good in a year and have not been sick since. Good luck and take care!
