I am 41 and just had a cervical discectomy with fusion last year. I am doing great and now have use of my right arm and my legs which I had lost the use of. What can I say? When all else fails go with the surgery. It does have its risks also and drs will not guarantee the results, but after 6 monthes of pain and losing the complete use of my arm and then my legs starting to go both my neurosurgeon and I both agreed it was time. PS: If you are not seeing a neurosurgeon , start seeing one! I would not trust either a neurologist or orthopedic surgeon to do the operation. Good Luck!
