Loose stool seems to be a fairly common long term side effect of gall bladder surgery (laparascopic and otherwise). However, I've been told that one of the less powerful medications used for cholesterol reduction (Questran) can moderate the loose stool in many patients. I've also had the procedure and take Questran for borderline cholesterol. Talk to your doctor about whether you might benefit from such long term treatment. Regards,
