I had a colonoscopy about 3 mos ago & they removed ONE large polyp down by the cecum. I have had 3 hemorrhoidectomies & the last one was botched so I have a heep of trouble in the tail end of me. I think you should have a long talk with your Gastroenterologist (Bariatric doctors are for weight loss), since you have colon cancer in yourfamily. As forme, being adopted, idon't know but am supposed to have another one in a year.a few mos more now, and I am still hurting so badly from the last one! A proctologist did mine but the next one will be given to me by my Gastroenterologist who KNOWS my tail end problem It is not the actual procedure that causes me such a problem and so much continuing pain but the darned FLEETS! Polyps, as afar as the books say, is a precursor of cancer but colon cancer ordinarily is a slow grower so I am sure the doc will only tell you to have it checked frequently. Lorane
