I am 54 years old and was diagnosed with this miserable problem about 1½ years ago (quite young). Like you I was put on a high dosage of steroids. And like you too I have been very concerned about its long-term side effects. I was never able to reduce the drug to a save level without severe discomfort and actually should have been at a higher dosage than what I was taking to be more comfortable. I also developed severe headaches because of all the trauma in my neck and shoulders and last October discovered that I suffered from anxiety too...so more drugs! Well all that has changed!!! I found the answer, for me at least, and I am slowly reducing the steroid...I am now at at much lower dosage than I have ever been at before and am doing quite nicely. The headaches are gone and so too are the inhalers I have used for almost 20 years for a breathing problem!
