It's not all that uncommon for children to have pretty heavy nosebleeds. The mucous membranes that cover the blood vessels in the nose can be thin and it doesn't take much to get a nosebleed going. Often times doctors will suggest cauterizing the membranes to create scar tissue and thus eliminate many of the nosebleeds and the severity of them.
