Hello: I too have interstital cystitis, and have had for long time. I started using Elmiron probably in 1995, and it took a long time for me to see any results. However, I was also taking DMSO treatments, and heparin with Sodium bicarb as a chaser. It has been a rough two summers for me(2000 and 2001) and wasin the hospital for almost a month this spring. I do my own instillations and I also take Hydroxine, which has helped immensively. BUT, following the diet helps to keep your body in good shape once you get it under control with Elmiron, Hydroxine, Instillations, and I also have been using Celexa , and some Xanax at low points of depression which has helped lotta also. This is the most horrendous disease I have ever had, and I feel for those who are enduring a flare at this point. THANK GOD I am doing much better. Thanks Patricia.
