You usually acquire shingles (also known as Herpes Zoster, a member of the Herpes family such as Chicken Pox are also) when being around someone who has had Chicken Pox. There is no antibiotic that can help, as it is not a bacterial infection, but a viral one. There are drugs that are anti-viral such as Zyclovir and others. Ask your physician which one might be appropriate for her.
