DIABETES--MY GRANDSON

JAN DIETZ

Message 3 of 7 Previous Next

I ALSO GOT DIABETES AT AGE 9 AND AM NOW 52 YEARS OLD, BUT IN BAD SHAPE. YOUR GRANDSON HAS A HARD ROW TO HOE AHEAD, BUT IT CAN BE DONE! THE BEST THING IS TO GET THE RIGHT DOCTOR THAT SPECIALIZES IN JUEVENILE DIABETES. THE KEY IS BALANCE. BALANCE IN EVERYTHING, INSULIN, FOOD, EXERCISE AND KEEPING THE BLOOD SUGARS AS CLOSE TO NORMAL AS POSSIBLE. THIS IS VERY VERY HARD! TREAT HIM LIKE EVERYONE ELSE AND EXPLAIN TO HIM, EVERYONE HAS A CROSS IN LIFE TO BARE AND THERE ARE SO MANY LIKE HIM OUT THERE. THERE IS HOPE FOR HIM, THEY ARE COMING UP WITH NEW THINGS ALL THE TIME. IN MY TIME THERE WASN'T SO MUCH. ONE GOOD THING I WOULD RECOMMEND IS THE BLOOD MONITOR CALLED FREESTYLE, IT IS PAINLESS AND HE WON'T MIND CHECKING HIS GLUCOSE LEVELS EVER! IT IS ONE THING YOU COULD DO FOR HIM. ALSO HE COULD TAKE SOME COVERAGE OF HUMALOG INSULIN TO GET HIS LEVELS DOWN, BUT A DOCTOR SHOULD TELL HIM HOW TO DO THIS. MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AND BLESS YOU, JAN DIETZ
