Shoulder Pain

Message 3 of 4 Previous Next

When any dislocation of the shoulder occurs there is always some stretrching of ligaments or tearing of muscle. You need to get to a orthopedic surgeon right away. I dislocated my left shoulder then repeatedly had problems with not being able to move. Everytime I did I would end up in sheer agony for days on end. I worked 3 twelve hour shifts a week and it became a match to finish my work a week. It ended up being that my joint capsule and ligaments were so stretched out from over use that my shoulder was repeatedly falling out of socket with any movement. This in turn was causing severe impingment syndrome. I had surgery last year to shrink my joint capsule and did very well. unofoturnately I reinjurd the shoulder and sublaxed it so I need surgery again but I was able to move w/o pain and as soon as my shoulder has the second surgery and is rehabed I will have full range of motion again. Some dislocations will tear the rotator cuff too which can be picked up by MRI. I am very happy I went through both surgeries. It was a long recovery but in the end I was very glad I did it. Make sure you get to a surgeon who specializes in shoulders. If you have any other questions please email me. Take care. KIM
