Ovarian Cysts

Message 3 of 5 Previous Next

I had a laparoscopy not too long ago, in July, The procedure isn't bad. Of course you are "asleep" through it so you feel nothing. My lap was diagnostic, with the possible removal of a cyst or ovarie, but more problems were found so they did nothing more. SO.... I can tell you that, for just the lap: They go in thru the belly button and do what they need to do. I am not sure if they will have to make any more incisions to remove the cysts. If all they do is go in thru the belly I would say that you should feel better within a week or two. Remember, I had nothing removed, but they did a lot of looking around and "moving" things. The worst part for me was coming out of the anithiesia, I felt dizzy and nauseaus. Kind of like the worst hangover(without the headache). You will at some point vomit. They can and will give you medication for this, but it is your body's natural way to get rid of the anitheisia. Try to drink lots of clear fluids for the next couple of days after, and don't push activity. Do what feels comfortable. The first night home when I got out of bed to use the bathroom, my abdomen felt tight and I had shrp almost tugging pain. I took a mega motrin and that seemed to do it. Most importantly, follow Dr's orders.
