tonsilectomy

My daughter is 5yrs.old and had her tonsils taken out in May. She did extremely well. She snored really bad too, so they took her adenoids out also. She only had a little throat discomfort for just a little while. She refused to take the pain medication, so she just kept ice packs on her throat and that helped a lot plus keeping fluids down. If you can keep your child drinking liquids (we found that Gatorade was the best) she will not have any problems. The dr. told me that she would eat when she wanted to. Just to keep her drinking fluids. She had a very good experience in the hospital (it's usually outpatient). Sometimes they have some ear pain due to the surgery site. But my daughter did not. She had been on 7 antibiotics in 6 months. She had terrible tonsils. I hope things go well. Just talk to your child and tell them what is going to happen. Honesty is good with a child. Our prayers are with you.
