A scan (?) like a sonogram really may not give a true picture of any liver damage. A liver biopsy is the best way to identify damage. If we had relied on the sonogram we would not have known my husband has liver damage. The sonogram showed a perfectly healthy liver, as did the liver function test. The PCR test showed a viral load and the liver biopsy showed early cirrosis. Both are the result of hep c
