Hi, I've had PMR for almost three years now, but before I knew what I had I had terrible pain in my upper arms. The muscles didn't work. I couldn't lift up my arms or put them behind me. I couldn't turn over in bed or dress myself. I couldn't even drive for three months. I was in bad shape until I was diagnosed with PMR and my doctor put me on prednisone. That saved me but now I can't get off it. That drug is good but it's not good. It is definately not a cure. I just had a relapse because I tried to go below 2 mg. unsuccessfully. Hope you have a good doctor who will steer you in the right direction. Good Luck...Sandy
