Yes, it does sound as if she had a stroke. No, a CAT scan will not show a small blood clot an MRI is needed for this to be seem. A CAT scan will only show if there is a brain bleed. There are 2 different kinds of strokes a clot or a bleed. She probably has a clot like me. I too was only offered a CAT scan at the hospital and it showed nothing because i dont have a brain bleed.my TIA's and small stroke is from a clot. Im a 29 year old female and i have 4 young children. Ive had a few episodes of left-sided numbness over a 8 month period that ive noticed and then the small stroke happened I woke up laughing and then crying uncontrolably it scared me because I had no control over those emotions It was just happening I had shuffling steps when i walked and i could not pick up a cup although i could still move my right hand I couldnt use it I had no strength. I have no medical insurance so nobody will see me for an MRI all. you need to insist that she have MRI if her current doctor wont then you have to find her one that will. This is very serious. I double my words i cry a lot when i never really use to im forgetfull and slow this all comes and goes i have good and bad days it effects people differently and in a lot of cases a more severe stroke happens which can be debilitating or result in death. my father passed at 42 because of a stroke. If im scaring you im sorry but someone needs to be honest insist on an MRI please.dont stop until you find a doctor that will listen and give an MRI.
