I posted in December about my own experience at age 21, knowing then that my oldest son (age 14) was having a tough time with it too. He ended up having his out on Feb.1,2001. He felt pretty good the first day. Insisted on doing Homework. It must have been the drugs. ;-) Anyway, the next couple of days were the worst. He didn't want to keep drinking and only wanted pain meds. He ended up vomiting because of the codeine on an empty stomach. AFter that, it was no meds until he ate. Then there were no problems. Like Magic, at 12 days post surgery, he was "normal" again. Since, he has had no trouble, except for the strep his brother gave him (& me). He actually has grown a couple of inches too. Both he and my younger son get a typical bad breath odor with tonsillitis. It is one of the things that signaled time to visit the doctor. THe throat appearance varied from infection to infection, sometimes raw and red, sometimes coated with a thick, creamy look, and sometimes spotted clumps of white. REcovery time is different with everyone. Though I have noticed that at least a week has been the minimum that is needed. REmember, it is surgery, your body needs time to mend! Don't push yourself too soon.
