I was diagnosed with rheumatic fever in January '99 after two bouts with strep throat. I too am on prophylactic antibiotics for an indefinite period of time, and have had no severe organ damage to date. I have and do continue to experience trouble breathing off and on, although my doctor does not think this is related. Has anyone else had breathing problems related to their rheumatic fever? Also, I was curious to see that many of you had also seen a rheumatologist as well. Why is this? Please feel free to post your advice-Margeaux
