I finally had emergency gallbladder surgery after having attacks on and off for years. A week after the surgery I was in terrible pain. It hurt worse than gallstones. I was admitted to the hospital once again and had emergency surgery to recover a stone that had floated after the first surgery, However, this surgery was performed by going down my throat to retrieve the stone. Very little recovery time and it had been 9 months with no other problems. Hope this helps.
