My daughter is a athletic 15 yrs old and has TOS. We found this out 10/2/00 when she developed bloodclots in her arm due to her vein being contricted near her jugular vein. Until this happened she had no pain in her arm. She spent a week in the hospital dissolving the clots by using Heparin and TPA. It was a very dangerous situation and we do not want it to happen again. We have been to several doctors, some recommend surgery, removal of top rib to give the vein more room, and some say not to have surgery, only as last resort. She is still on comadin and has pain in her shoulder especially when she uses her arm a lot. She wants to continue the sports she loves, basketball and softball. We would like to hear from people that has had this surgery and what kind of recovery they have had. Has it helped and have they returned to normal. At this time we are trying to get into the Mayo Clinic, but our insurance co. is not cooperating. Please answer asap. Thanks
