stuttering gettting worse

My brother has stuttered all of his life. He started stuttering at the same time that your son did. I would check with your family doctor immediately to find out if the problem is physical and see what he says. If he cannot find anything physically wrong, I would take him to a speech therapist. Stuttering does not just go away and needs to be treated. What the therapist will probably teach him is ways to breath and concentrate on what he is saying. My younger brother is twenty-six years old now and still stutters some if he does not slow down and concentrate on his words. Left untreated stuttering can be a big obstacle to your son's success in school and in life in general. Seek help after you visit your doctor. My brother got help and was able to do very well in school and do well socially. He is now happily married and is an attorney. As I said he still does stutter, but he has learned to control it to the extent that it is hardly noticeable. Good luck, L W Smith
