stuttering gettting worse

NANCY

Please know that you can be cured of this problem. My husband stuttered so bad all through his child hood and up through many years after we was married. He would have a very difficult time to start speaking or answering someone. I would encourage him to not think hard on what he was going to say and to just go ahead and say whatever was on his mind. Don't be concerned about making a good impression, people are people, give yourself self confidence. We sought out all kinds of help but nothing seemed to help him, from observing him when this was happening I had the feeling that he lacked self confidence in himself. When our last child was going on eight, our son started to stutter and so we took our son to the school speech therapist, he suggested that we didn't make an issue of it, just carry on a conversation with him and see what happens, and before we knew it he was no longer stuttering. My husband all of a sudden quit stuttering when he was about forty. He is now 70. Just keep believing in yourself and that you will overcome this. By the way praying about the situation was part of our way of dealing with the problem. Good luck and remember to believe in yourself that you will overcome this. sincerely, Nancy
