Dear Marcia, I was diagnosed with this a year and a half ago, and have periodic muscle spasms with it. Once it was so bad, I had to be taken to the emergency room of one of the local hospitals, where they gave me a shot and a prescription for pain. The next day I called my rheumatologist and told him what had happened, and he prescribed muscle relaxers for it. Before that, I had complained to him about the pain, and he said what your's did, that it couldn't be from the polymyalgia rheumatica. As it turned out, it was, according to articles I have read on the web. Take Care, Betty
