plantar fasciitis

I am a second year podiarty student in the UK. We try less invasive measures first. An insole devise to take some of the pressure off the plantar fascia is tried first, this is usally a heel lift, according to the text books. The ultra sound will be used later on in conjunction with the insole. Then a hydrocorsisone steroid injection can be used. A friend of mine just treated a patient with these methods and although he'd been suffering for a long time got full resilution of the condition. I would go and see a podiatrist and consider all the non-invasive methods of treatment before considering surgery. You also need to know what's causing it. If you get pain when palpating the heel where it meets the arch then it could be a heel spur, otherwise it could be foot type, trauma etc. Basically you need another oppinion.
