My dad has had narcolepsy for 40yrs plus. He was on a med called dexadrine but now is on ritilan daily. He is a mild case but it still affects his life in many ways. There is no food that he knows of that helps his condition. He wakes up at all periods of night or day. He doses off for minutes at a time in the middle of sentences. Has an alarm he wears behind his ear to drive so that if his head nods to a certain level the alarm goes off to alert him. He functions well though. Had a fantastic job, 7 kids and has learned to live with it. Severe cases are another story though. He has met other people with these. Narcolepsy can also be found in animals.
