Scoliosis runs in my sister-in-law's family. (only girls in family). My sister-in-law's sister had an operation and a brace for one year as did my sister-in-law's daughter. The daughter(my niece) who is now her 30's had the operation in her teens and it was very successful. The sister's operation was also a success. However we do non know yet if it will be in my niece's children. They are all boys and her family was all girls. However, the operations were done when they were pretty much sure the growing was over. However, they were in body casts for almost a year, then a back brace for a year. I hope this helps in some way.
