Hello: I know how frightened you are. My son is seven years old and was born with spina bifida. I wish I could give you a pat answer as to what to expect with this, however, the child can experience anything from difficulty learning to walk to symptoms extremely severe. My son has two shunts and is in a wheelchair. He is extremely bright and has a wonderful sense of humor. He is in first grade cognitively is right on line.
