epilepsy discrimination

What can we men and women with epilepsy do to see things change socially and legally? Speak out. I've been fired several times, even after having performed excellently. However, that seizure is seen in the office, or it is found out that I'm purchasing anti-seizure pills using my firm's health insurance plan, and I'm out on the street again. Last time 'round I invested in the help of a lawyer. I wasn't offered my job back. And just as well because when I've seen that route taken, the person is often made to feel so miserable on the job that he or she quickly resigns -- leaving the firm with no obligations. I was granted a few months worth of salary, but half of it went to my lawyer. Many corporations are finding "acceptable" reasons for dismissal of employees. Few will go on record stating that the worker's epilepsy was the reason for unemployment. What can we do? What I do a lot of -- write about it and try to get the media interested in looking into it. You'll be surprised by how many publishers/broadcasters are interested.
