Hi Burt, Just got on the internet to see if I could track down some verification of something I heard a few weeks ago about a chemical transformation of the artificial sweetener, Equal, which is found in soft drinks. Apparently, pallets of canned soft drinks sat in the broiling sun over in the Gulf, transforming Equal into some dangerous compound similar to formaldehyde. I have no verification of this, which is why I'm searching. Please read my email, Chemical Source of Gulf War Syndrome?, which should appear here by 8/1. I'd really like to know if this is true or just a legend. I do think Equal is probably not a good thing to consume because of what I saw at Big Sur.
