I can relate to your frustrations... Four years ago, when I was 19, I was in a car accident which resulted in fibromyalgia. Yes, fibro can definetly be caused by trauma. My boyfriend was driving the car and has had difficult time dealing with the fact that my life is drastically changed and there's not much to do about it. I haven't found anything except massage therapy that really helps my pain, but I am always searching for something. Although it is a dismal and depressing thought that I may have to live every day of the rest of my life in this kind of pain, I always remind myself that it could be worse. Fibro is not degenerative like a lot of conditions. Hopefully your girlfriend has found a good doctor - (I go to physical therapy) who will work with her to try new things...different things work for different people.
