My mother has had RSD symptoms for 3 years. The pain is chronic, but is improved with morphine derivatives. Physical therapy always makes the pain worse. From research I have done, surgery is absolutely inadvisable. Hopefully you can see a neurologist who specializes in RSD in a city near you. Most docs do not have understanding of this condition so you must try to see one who has done research in this area.
