hi all i am a bit confused and worried..my rheumatologist thinks i have pmr due to hi sed rate of 100 h started me with 5 mg of prednisone but that did nothing for the pain. when i saw him again my sed rate was down to 46 but the pain is still with me..he put me on 20 mg for 2 wks then 15 for 2 weeks then 10 i can honestly say the prednisone is not helping the pain. in reading some of your posts some say if prednisone doesnt help immediately then its not pmr but so many say even on prednisone they have pain...is my dose too low? i started with horrible pain in shoulder 1st one side then the other then in my hands, knees, foot and recently in my neck the pain seems to be on both sides of a body part..i may have 2 to 3 good days followed by 1 to 2 weeks of terrible pain. i do work full time and this is really a difficult thing to live with and still have to hold down a job...i also feel sometimes like my face and ears are on fire i am so flushed..so my questions are really is it possible to have pmr and prednisone not take away the pain? is 20 mg's considered a hi dose when starting out? i have a lot of anxiety that i may have some horrible disease that is going undetected..reading your posts tho is comforting...best wishes to you all and please respond.thanks
