Thorasic outlet syndrome

Message 4 of 11 Previous Next

i was diagnosed with bilateral TOS when i was 20 and i've been dealing with it for 13 yrs. i had TOS surgery in '96 on the left side and in '97 for the right side. in my case, the surgery didn't help much, so i know all about the frustrations. there are some good meds for nerve pain, such as neurontin and elavyll (i think that's how it's spelled). anyway, some light stretching will help open up the thorasic area relieving the pressure on the nerves. stay away from doing anything over head as this causes the thorasic area to close putting more pressure on the nerve and will cause more pain. if you go to physical herapy, stay away from anyone who says "No pain, no gain". with TOS, pain is telling you to STOP doing what you're doing. i know alot of people who's TOS was made MUCH WORSE from going to therapy. i've had the best luck with stretches and massage therapy. i know the frustration this injury causes. i hope i helped.
